Recently, the head of the E-commerce Department of the Ministry of Commerce introduced the development of online retail market in 2022. It is reported that China's online retail market will grow steadily in 2022.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, In 2022, the national online retail sales will reach 13.79 trillion yuan, up 4% year on year. Among them, the online retail sales of physical goods reached 11.96 trillion yuan, up 6.2% year on year, accounting for 27.2% of the total retail sales of consumer goods.
The monitoring of major e-commerce platforms by business big data shows that the national online retail market in 2022 will mainly show the following characteristics:
First, the sales of some commodity categories achieved double-digit growth. Among the 18 categories of monitored commodities, the sales growth of 8 categories of commodities exceeded double digits. Among them, gold, silver, jewelry, tobacco and alcohol increased by 27.3% and 19.1% respectively year on year.
Second, the northeast and central regions grew rapidly. The online retail sales in the northeast and central regions increased by 13.2% and 8.7% respectively year on year, 9.2 and 4.7 percentage points higher than the national growth respectively. Online retail sales in the eastern and western regions increased by 3.8% and 3% respectively year on year.
   Third, the online retail of agricultural products grew well. The national rural online retail sales reached 2.17 trillion yuan, up 3.6% year on year. Among them, the online retail sales of physical goods in rural areas reached 1.99 trillion yuan, up 4.9% year on year. The online retail sales of agricultural products nationwide reached 531.38 billion yuan, up 9.2% year on year, 6.4 percentage points higher than that in 2021.
   Fourthly, cross-border e-commerce has developed rapidly. According to customs data, China's cross-border e-commerce import and export (including B2B) will reach 2.11 trillion yuan in 2022, up 9.8% year on year. Among them, the export was 1.55 trillion yuan, up 11.7% year on year, and the import was 0.56 trillion yuan, up 4.9% year on year.
Fifth, new business types and models of e-commerce highlight vitality. The key monitoring e-commerce platform has recorded more than 120 million live broadcasts, watched more than 1.1 trillion people, watched more than 95 million live products, and had nearly 1.1 million active anchors. The industries and categories of instant retail penetration continue to expand, covering more application scenarios, and accelerating everything to home.
